Tigers Secure 6th Straight Section Title With 3-1 Win At Shaler

Just days after rallying back to defeat Shaler, 3-2, the North Allegheny girls’ volleyball team defeated the Titans again on Tuesday night, 3-1. The road victory clinched the Section 1-AAAA title for the Lady Tigers. It’s the sixth straight section crown for NA.

Similar to Saturday’s meeting, Shaler came out strong to win the opening set, 25-17, with the help of Mia Schubert, who led the Titans with 19 kills on the night.

Undaunted, North Allegheny answered back by winning the next three sets by the same score, 25-20. Senior Paige Miller and sophomore Mia Tuman paced the NA attack with 12 kills apiece. Seniors Madison Beer and Paige Morningstar added nine and eight kills, respectively. Junior Jadyn Perkins tacked on six kills.

Tuman helped anchor the defense with 25 digs, followed by Miller’s 20 digs and sophomore Caroline Curran’s 18 digs. At the net, Beer led the team with five blocks and Morningstar tallied four blocks.

The victory secures a Section 1-AAAA crown with an 11-0 record. Shaler falls to 9-2 in section play. The top-ranked Tigers will conclude the regular season with a home date with the Pine-Richland Rams on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
