Tigers Secure Co-Section Title With Win Over North Hills, 69-28

On Senior Night, all seven North Allegheny seniors touched the scoresheet in a 69-28 romp over the North Hills Indians on Friday night. The win clinched a share of the Section 1-6A title for the Tigers’ seventh straight section crown.

Seniors Rachel Martindale and Brynn Serbin paced the Tigers with 16 and 14 points, respectively. Fellow seniors Kristen Chomos, Brooke Barcia, Kamaria Carioto, Olivia Whitacre and Mary Evankovich also netted buckets in the section finale.

The Tigers opened up a 24-10 lead in the first quarter to spark the rout, spearheaded by the defense and 3-point shooting of Serbin. The Ohio Northern University commit scored 11 of her 14 points in the first half and buried four 3-pointers on the night. For her efforts, Serbin was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.

North Hills, who was playing without three injured starters, was led by sophomore Abigail McElhaney with 13 points.

North Allegheny improves to 20-1 overall and 13-1 in Section 1-6A. North Hills falls to 4-18 overall and 3-11 in the section. The Tigers will round out the regular season on Monday night with a playoff tune-up against the second-ranked team in Class 5A, the Oakland Catholic Eagles. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
