Rounding out the section schedule with another win, the No. 1-ranked North Allegheny girls’ basketball team topped the North Hills Indians on the road, 46-32, to clinch a co-section championship with Pine-Richland. After a slow start in the first half, the Tigers hit their stride in the second half with 58-percent shooting from the field. Junior Piper Morningstar paced the Tigers with 13 points, pouring in 4 of 7 attempts from beyond the arc.

North Hills surprised NA in the first quarter and led, 12-8, after eight minutes of play. Jessica Bowen totaled a team-high 11 points and nine rebounds to lead the Indians attack. Despite the quick start, the Indians offense bogged down in the remaining three quarters and couldn’t keep pace with the up-tempo Tigers. North Hills played “iron-man” basketball and did not use a single substitution the entire game.

Nine different players logged minutes for North Allegheny and the Tigers wore down their section foe and outscored North Hills, 38-20, for the remainder for game. With Morningstar touching double figures, NA saw additional scoring from sophomore Rachel Martindale and junior Madelyn Fischer who netted nine points apiece.

North Allegheny improves to 20-1 overall and 9-1 in Section 1-AAAAAA. North Hills slips to 9-12 overall and 2-8 in the section. The Tigers conclude the regular season with a non-section game against Peters Township on Friday night at 7:30.
