Tigers Tame Dragons, 13-0

The North Allegheny field hockey team returned to section play on Monday afternoon and returned to the win column as well, earning a 13-0 victory over Allderdice at Cupples Stadium on the South Side.

The Tigers opened up the floodgates with seven goals in the first quarter and coasted the rest of the way. Freshman Reagan Russell netted her first career hat trick, scoring twice in the first period and once more in the third period. Juniors Lauren Kampi and Sofia Mianzo tallied two goals apiece to aid North Allegheny’s potent attack. Also touching the scoresheet were Josie Schomburg, Sarah Renninger, Anvi Chopra, Sophie Grafton, Camryn Ragan and Mila Prusak. In net, junior Jordan Ashbaugh and Sabrina Balent split time in net as the Tigers picked up their third shutout of the season.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in Section 1-AAA. Allderdice falls to 0-3 in the section. The Tigers host Norwin on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
