Tigers Top Titans, 42-36
North Allegheny swept the season series against the Shaler Titans with a 42-36 triumph in Section 1-6A action. The win was NA’s 19th in a row in the head-to-head series with the Titans.
The contest was a defensive struggle with only seven made baskets in the first half. The Tigers led 19-10 at intermission and stretched the advantage to 34-20 going into the fourth quarter. NA was paced by junior Lizzy Groetsch with 11 points in the third period and 24 on the night.
Shaler fought back in the final stanza but NA was able to stave off the Titans for the 42-36 win. Shaler was led by Audrey Fisher with 13 points and Emily Cavacini with 12.
North Allegheny improves to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in Section 1-6A. Shaler slips to 7-7 overall and 4-4 in the section. The Tigers will take on Elizabeth Seton (MD) tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. at the MLK Tournament at Woodland Hills High School.
