Tigers Upended By Vikings

The North Allegheny boys’ basketball team dropped a 47-29 decision at Central Catholic on Tuesday night in a Section 1-6A contest.

Leading 14-13 after one quarter, the host Vikings took control of the game by outscoring the Tigers, 19-4, in the second period for a 33-17 lead at intermission.

Central Catholic was paced by senior Ben Sarson with a game-high 21 points on 9 of 15 shooting from the field. Senior Colin O’Toole added 10 points.

North Allegheny was led by junior Khalil Dinkins with 12 points and senior Grant Timmerson with nine points.

Following the loss, North Allegheny drops to 8-10 overall and 3-5 in Section 1-6A. Central Catholic improves to 12-7 overall and pulls into a tie for second place in the section standings with Pine-Richland with a 5-3 mark. The Tigers hope to bounce back on Friday night with a home game against Seneca Valley. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
