Tigers Wallop Warriors, 6-0

The North Allegheny field hockey team bounced back from back-to-back losses with a 6-0 road blowout of Penn-Trafford. Leading into Thursday’s contest, the Tigers had scored five goals all season. On this night, North Allegheny opened the flood gates and jumped on the Warriors with five goals in the first half alone.

Just 1:39 into the game, junior Marisa Hess started the scoring for NA off a penalty corner and gave the Tigers an instant 1-0 lead. Senior Hailey Wachowiak added onto the lead with a goal with 25:09 remaining in the first half to bring the score to 2-0, Tigers.

Junior Maria Duchi netted her first goal of the year off a penalty corner to increase the NA lead to 3-0 with 7:06 to play in the half. Wachowiak tallied two more goals before halftime for a 5-0 advantage by intermission. In the second half, Wachowiak posted one final tally to bring the final score to 6-0, Tigers.

In all, Wachowiak netted four goals and assisted on Duchi’s marker. Also garnering an assist was junior Emma Kim in an all-around performance for the Tigers.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 2-5-1 overall and 2-1 in WPIAL Division 1. The Tigers will take part in the Palmyra Cougar Classic on Saturday in a tough non-section test.
