Tigers Wrangle Colts On Senior Night, 5-1

Posted on:

Senior pitcher Joe Lang put on a dazzling display on Senior Night, tossing a complete game and striking out 11 batters to help the Tigers to a 5-1 win on Wednesday.  Lang allowed only four hits and one unearned run to improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Colts seemingly galloped to a quick start, scoring on an NA error to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Chartiers Valley’s run was only a mirage as Lang shut the door on the Colts the rest of the way.

The North Allegheny lineup provided steady production with single runs in every inning but the fifth. In the first inning, an RBI single by Danny Gallon scored Ethan Gavlik to tie the game at 1-1. A Logan Andreyko sacrifice fly in the second inning brought home Liam Woodworth to give NA a 2-1 lead. In the third inning, a Joe Manesiotis RBI groundout increased the lead to 3-1. It became 4-1 in the fourth inning when Spencer Barnett raced home on a wild pitch. Another wild pitch uncorked in the sixth inning scored Matt Ranallo for NA’s final run, bringing the score to 5-1.

With the non-section win, North Allegheny improves 13-2 overall. The Tigers will host Shaler on Friday night for another non-section affair.
