Top-Ranked Tigers Fend Off Raiders On the Road, 64-53

The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team grinded out a tough road win at Seneca Valley on Thursday night, 64-53, in Section 1-6A action. The No. 1-ranked Tigers trailed 46-43 heading into the fourth quarter but used a huge fourth quarter to pull out the win. NA outscored the host Raiders, 21-7, in the final stanza.

Sophomore Jasmine Timmerson paced North Allegheny with a team-high 15 points, including two 3-pointers. Senior Lizzy Groetsch netted 13 points and spurred on the NA charge in the fourth quarter with eight points. Senior forward Paige Morningstar helped the Tigers keep pace with the Raiders in the first three quarters with nine points.

Seneca Valley was led by Olivia West, who tallied 17 points and three 3-pointers. Grove City commit Jaden Davinsizer poured in 16 points and three treys in a losing effort.

North Allegheny improves to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Section 1-6A. Seneca Valley dips to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in section play. The Tigers return to action on Saturday for a non-section game against Woodland Hills at 4:00 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Tournament. The game will be video streamed live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
