Top-Ranked Tigers Flummox Foxes, 3-0
The undefeated North Allegheny Tigers rolled to a 3-0 section sweep of the winless Fox Chapel Foxes on Tuesday night. The Tigers won by set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-13.
North Allegheny produced plenty of points thanks to the big swings of Jason Stiefvater and Drew Hunker who tallied seven kills apiece. Canyon Tuman added six kills and Jake Barber followed with five. Defensively, junior Trevor Treser tallied a team-high six digs and junior Sava Topich chipped in with five digs.
Topich and A.J. Schmidt split time at setter with Topich dishing out 23 assists and Schmidt racking up 15 assists. Schmidt also led NA with three aces.
North Allegheny improves to 4-0 overall and in Section 2-AAA, while Fox Chapel dips to 0-4. The Tigers will take on Seneca Valley in a section showdown on Thursday night at NASH. The match will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
