Two North Allegheny basketball players took home MVP honors at the 2021 Roundball Classic this weekend at the Metheny Field House on the campus of Geneva College.

North Allegheny senior Lizzy Groetsch was named the MVP of the Class 6A vs. Class 5A contest on Saturday. Groetsch, along with NA teammate Paige Morningstar, helped Class 6A earn a 92-88 victory. It’s the second consecutive Roundball Classic that a North Allegheny girls’ basketball player took home MVP honors. Rachel Martindale, now a sophomore guard at Akron University, was the game’s MVP in 2019. The Roundball Classic was not played in 2020 due to COVID-19.

On the boys’ side, senior forward Greg Habib was named co-MVP of the Class 6A vs. Class 5A contest, along with Seneca Valley’s Cole Brooks. Habib netted 22 points in a 141-132 loss. Senior guard Jack Christy and senior forwards Ethan Lake and Khalil Dinkins also represented the Tigers at this weekend’s events (Friday and Saturday) in Beaver Falls.
