Tyler Duderstadt’s Last-Minute Goal Vaults NA Past Butler, 3-2

Tyler Duderstadt’s goal with 1:17 remaining in the third period lifted North Allegheny to an exciting 3-2 victory over the Butler Golden Tornado on Monday night. The goal by Duderstadt was assisted by Vincenzo Mazur and Dylan Watkins, helping NA stay one-point behind Peters Township at the top of the Class AAA standings in the PIHL.

The night began with a scoreless first period before the floodgates opened in the second period. Aaron Miller netted the first goal of the night to give North Allegheny a 1-0 lead at the 4:24 mark of the second period. Butler’s Gavin Morrison tied the game with a power-play goal a little over five minutes later. The Tigers regained the lead at 2-1 with 3:59 left in the second period on a goal by Tyler Lamark.

North Allegheny maintained a one-goal lead until Ronan Miller knotted the score at 2-2 with just 1:49 remaining in regulation. With the game seemingly destined for overtime, the Tigers quickly turned the tables on their opponent and stunned Butler thanks to the game-winning goal by Duderstadt with 1:17 left to play to propel NA to a 3-2 victory.

Tigers goalie Ryan Heil was peppered with 50 shots on net and made an astonishing 48 saves. Connor Strobel stopped 21 pucks for Butler in 24 attempts.

North Allegheny improves to 5-1-1 on the season, while Butler slips to 4-3. The Tigers will have the Thanksgiving break off before returning to the ice on Monday, November 27 at 9:00 p.m. with a visit to Plum to take on the Mustangs.
