NA sweeps Butler

Braving subzero temperatures, the NA team traveled to Butler High School for their latest meet.  Not letting the cold slow them down, we had two more swimmers get their first WPIAL cuts! Macey Wenzel put in the yardage with a 5:28.16 500 Free and Dillon Thyen cruised to a 58.76 in the 100 Backstroke.

We all know the Butler did it! Well, not this time. The N.A. divers did it! The girls scored 9 team points with Juliet Hood winning with 278.00 points, followed by Leah Maiolo and Emily Dimond. The boys scored 13 team points with Anthony Farrah winning with 261.30 points, followed by Colin Metzger and Nathan Rak.

Starting with the 200 Medley Relay, the NA Girls took 1st Pl with the winning team of Dani Hinkson, Tori Tieppo, Eva Ogden, and Claire Bacu clocking in at 1:51.21. Following suit, the NA Boys also took 1st PL in the medley relay with the top group of Danny Lesinski, Gus Miller, Zachary Totin, and Grant Regule posting a 1:36.66.

On to the 200 Freestyle, NA girls swept 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl. NA’s winner Emma Dietz came in at 2:02.11. The NA boys matched with a 1st, 2nd 3rd PL sweep as well. The boys winner was Dylan Seiford with a 1:48.43.

For the 200 IM, the NA girls wrapped up 1st, 2nd, and 4th Pl. NA Girls best IMer Dani Hinkson touched at 2:14.11. The NA boys swept again 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pl. The Tigers’ top finisher was Mason Shantz, who swam a 2:05.62.

Scorching the water, the 50 Freestyle was a NA girls sweep 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl. The Tigers’ fastest girl, Evey Masztak won with a time of 26.13. The NA boys continued dominating with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl sweep as well. NA’s best swimmer was Nicholas Klein with a time of 22.96.

The 100 Butterfly had the NA girls placing 1st, 2nd, and 4th. NA’s winner was Natalie Reubi with a time of 1:02.26. The NA boys continued packing the podium with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl sweep. Leading the NA boys was Gus Miller with a 53.36.

In the 100 Freestyle, the NA girls took 1st, 2nd, and 4th Pl. NA Girls best finisher was Kate Dudro with a time of 58.76. The NA boys took 1st, 3rd, and 4th Pl. The Tiger boys fastest swimmer was Brandon Yatchenko with a 51.19.

The 500 Freestyle saw another NA girls sweep 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pl. Winning the event with a PB was Tori Tieppo clocking a 5:23.31.  The NA boys also took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pl. The NA boys’ best distance swimmer was Mason Shantz with a 5:03.55.

In sync, the 200 Free Relay was won by both the NA Girls and Boyst. The girls group of Claire Bacu, Dani Hinkson, Eva Ogden, and Kate Dudro finished at 1:43.07. The NA boys were Danny Lesinski, Nicholas Klein, Gus Miller, and Grant Regule swimming a 1:30.73.

With ice starting to form on the pool deck, the NA Tigers called it for weather putting the meet into exhibition. In the 100 Backstroke, the Tiger Girls best finisher was Julianne Weaver with the time of 1:04.66. The 100 Breaststroke was won by Emma Dietz with a 1:12.62, and the top 400 Free Relay of Tori Tieppo, Evey Masztak, Eva Zilinski, and Lorelai Quinet finished with a time of 3:52.77.

For the NA Boys, the 100 Backstroke was a WPIALs for everyone with Jackson Ross posting a PB WPIAL cut 57.49 for the win. Danny Lesinski won the 100 Breaststroke with a 1:01.80 and the team of Zachary Totin, Jackson Ross, Dylan Seiford, and Dillon Thyen posted a 3:30.32 to be the Boys best finishers.
