Amanda Miller’s Two Goals Help NA Top Titans, 3-0

After inclement weather washed out the Lady Tigers’ scheduled game against Mars over the weekend, North Allegheny returned to Newman Stadium and defeated the Shaler Titans, 3-0, on Monday night. The Tigers thoroughly outplayed their opponent and outshot the Titans, 16-5. Junior goalie Cara Schwartz got the start in net and notched NA’s third shutout of the season by blocking all five shots she faced.

North Allegheny got on the board in the game’s 15th minute when sophomore Morgan Anderson fed a pass across to senior Gabby Smychynsky for a goal to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead. In the 29th minute, the Tigers made it 2-0 thanks to a goal by senior Amanda Miller on assist by senior Natalie Lewis. North Allegheny put the game on ice in the second half thanks to another goal by Miller in the 63rd minute.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in Section 2-AAA. Shaler slips to 3-4 overall and 1-4 in section action. The Lady Tigers visit the North Hills Indians on Wednesday night.
