Boys’ golf finishes week with back-to-back losses

After winning its first match of the week, the North Allegheny boys’ golf team closed out the week with two tough losses on the road against Seneca Valley and Sewickley Academy, bringing its record to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in Section 3-AAA.

The Tigers won its third straight match on Wednesday with a 201-232 win against section rival North Hills at the Diamond Run Golf Club.

Senior Luke Minsky, who led the Tigers in all three matches last week, led the Tigers against the Indians, shooting a 1-over par round of 36. Joining Minsky shooting in the 30’s was senior Julian Rau with a round of 39.

On Thursday, they traveled to Cranberry Highlands to take on Seneca Valley in another section tilt. Minsky was once again had the top round for the Tigers, finishing the round with a 37, but it was not enough as the Raiders defeated the Tigers, 188-193. Juniors Teague Urban (38) Ryan Meyer (38), and sophomore Scott Fitzgerald (39), all carded rounds under 40. Seneca Valley was led by Zach Gehm and Adam Bushee with rounds of 34 and 36, respectively.  

On Friday, the Tigers battled the Panthers at Allegheny Country Club, but fell short with a 195-198 defeat. Minsky led the Tigers yet again, shooting a 1-over par round of 36. He was the top golfer on the day with Sewickley’s leader, Will Nocito, carding a score of 38.

The non-conference match was the third straight day of competition for the Tigers.

North Allegheny will return to the links and look to end its two-game slide on Tuesday, Sept. 12 when they host Shaler at 3:30 p.m in a section match.
