Boys Soccer grinds out 1-0 win over Seneca Valley

Posted on:

North Allegheny traveled to Seneca Valley in an important Section 3-4A matchup against the Raiders. The Tigers were able to edge Seneca Valley 1-0 in a very evenly matched contest on Tuesday night. The win tonight clinches at least a share of the section title for the Tigers.

Possession was even for most of the night. Seneca Valley edged the Tigers in shots but the defense played strong and Ryan Young picked up another clean sheet while making numerous important saves.

In the 67th minute, North Allegheny got a direct free kick near midfield. Justin Stalter was open to drive down the right side. Stalter made the long cross to the back post where Kevin Chen was to score the goal and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead that they held onto until full time.

North Allegheny improves to 13-2-1 overall and 8-1 in section play. Seneca Valley falls to 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the section. The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday with a big Section 3-4A contest against Fox Chapel at Newman Stadium at 7:00 p.m. This game will be broadcasted on the North Allegheny Sports Network
