Boys Soccer handles North Hills in section opener
North Allegheny opened section play by hosting the Indians of North Hills at Newman Stadium on Thursday afternoon. It was a great start to section play for the Tigers as they would dominate possession for a lot of the night and win the match 4-0.
It was all North Allegheny to begin the game as they put continuous pressure on the Indians and it all finally worked out when Zach Nash found the back of the net in the 17th minute to give the Tigers a 1-0. North Hills would try to respond four minutes later but a good save by Ryan Young kept the score where it was. A North Hills foul in the box with 16:48 left in the half gave NA a penalty kick but a great save from Indians keeper Adrian Werner kept the game at 1-0. North Hills would get their best chance of the half with 30 seconds remaining but a great blocked shot by defender Justin Stalter kept the game 1-0 at halftime.
After dominating most of the first half and only getting one goal to show for it, the Tigers finally saw the ball in the back of the net numerous times in the second half. North Hills came out with a ton of energy and had a couple of great opportunities but Lucas Henderson found the head of Nash who buried his second goal of the contest and the Tigers took the momentum back for good. Mykola Desysenko and Alden Phillips would add on two more goals and the Tigers ultimately won the contest 4-0.
Young, Emiliano Perin and Jaxon Cowger combined on the shutout for the Tigers. With the brace and putting constant pressure on the Indians defense, Nash was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.
North Allegheny improves to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the section. North Hills falls to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in section play. The Tigers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Norwin to take on the Knights in a non-section contest at 3:30 p.m.
