
Boys Wrestling places 12th at Bethlehem Holiday Classic
The North Allegheny boys wrestling team traveled to Bethlehem Liberty High School to take part in the Bethlehem Holiday Classic over the weekend. The Tigers would finish in 12th place out of 33 teams getting a third place finish, two fifth-place finishes and a seventh place finish.
Bradyn McConneha had the best weekend for NA taking home the bronze in the 285 lb bracket. McConneha got a bye into the second round where he won by pin. He defeated Jacob Cozze of Nazareth High School 5-2 in the quarterfinals before falling to Gavin Grell from Northampton in the semifinals. McConneha would bounce back with back-to-back pins in the consolation semifinals and the third place match to take home bronze. In the third place match, McConneha pinned Daniel Schiffer of Bethlehem Freedom in 41 seconds.
Joseph Synan and Griffen Reid each ended the weekend with fifth place finishes.
Synan won his first two matches by tech fall before defeating Max Mitchley of Warwick by a 4-1 decision in the quarterfinals. Synan would fall in the semifinals and consolation semifinals before winning the fifth place match over Jack Jasionowicz from Stroudsburg by an 11-4 decision.
Reid won by tech fall in the first round before losing by a 7-3 decision in the second round. Reid battled through the consolation bracket winning four straight matches before falling by decision in the consolation semifinals. He would bounce back to win the fifth place match by major decision over Owen Woll of Blue Mountain.
Mason Hartung ended the weekend with a seventh place finish in the 189 lb bracket. Hartung won his first two matches before losing in the quarterfinals. After going 1-1 in the consolation bracket, Hartung pinned Duke Martin from Honesdale in the seventh place match.
Evan Schomburg finished in eighth place in the 121 lb bracket. Schomburg won his first two matches by tech fall before falling by decision in the quarterfinals. He would also go 1-1 in the consolation bracket before falling the the seventh place match.
Gus Stedeford and Charlie LaQuatra each went 2-2 on the weekend, Brody Barnhart, Eli Mager, Brody Magorian and Dalton Stragand all went 1-2.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, January 8 when they travel to Pine-Richland to take on the Rams in a Section 4-3A matchup starting at 7:00 p.m.
