Four-Time Reigning State Champs Open With Win At Seneca Valley

The four-time reigning PIAA champions began their quest for a fifth consecutive title on Tuesday night with a hard-fought 3-1 win at rival Seneca Valley in Section 1-AAAA action. The Tigers’ 23rd straight win came by way of set scores of 25-11, 21-25, 25-14 and 27-25.

The North Allegheny attack was spearheaded by Ohio State University commit Mia Tuman, who posted a team-high 19 kills. Junior Carissa Treser and senior Jadyn Perkins each contributed six kills to the offensive effort.

Sophomore Avery Butcher carved up the Raiders with her spectacular serves, posting four aces. Tuman chipped in with three aces and junior Caroline Curran added two aces.

At the net, Perkins led with four blocks and Curran paced the defense with 14 digs. In a terrific all-around effort, junior Ella Deeter dished out a team-leading 29 assists, while adding eight digs and four kills.

North Allegheny looks to follow up on its season opening win with a home match against Fox Chapel on Thursday. The contest will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
