
Hinkson, Smith Move On To Day Two At Hershey
North Allegheny sophomore Jake Hinkson earned a pair of wins on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Class AAA PIAA Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Giant Center in Hershey. Hinkson opened the day in the 132 pound bracket with a preliminary round triumph over Cathedral Prep’s TaNauz Gregory by a 12-10 decision. In the his first round contest against Garrett Kyner of Chambersburg, Hinkson posted a 3-1 decision to move on to the quarterfinals where he’ll face Chad Haegele of Arch Bishop Wood.
North Allegheny’s senior standout at 195 pounds, Zach Smith, didn’t fare quite as well as he was edged out in the first round by Francis Duggan of Cumberland Valley by a narrow 4-3 decision. The close loss sends Smith to the consolation bracket where he’ll take on Brendan Zimmie of Spring Ford.
