The North Allegheny ice hockey team battled hard, but could not find any offense in a 3-0 loss to Seneca Valley Thursday night from the Baierl Ice Complex.

Both teams had flow in the first period, but the goalkeepers for each side kept the game scoreless. Senior Cam Junker made 19 saves in between the pipes for the Tigers, while counterpart Chris Nichols stopped 14 pucks.

The Raiders took the lead late in the second frame on the powerplay from a Braden Morin marker assisted by Tyler Maxwell and Jimmy Murtha. Thirty seconds later, Seneca captain Andrew Malichky found the back of the net on an offspeed shot from distance that caught the NA defense off guard.  Morin added an insurance goal in the third period.

Junior forward Ed Scherer earned Wright Automotive Player of the Game laurels for his aggressive efforts and scrappy play on both ends of the ice.

With the loss, NA falls to 6-5 overall. The Tigers are back in action Monday night at the Palmer Imaging Arena for a battle with Franklin Regional at 8:30 p.m.
