Isla Abrams Nets 100th Career Goal, NA Tops Peters Township

Earlier in the day, the WPIAL released it’s playoff pairings in girls’ lacrosse and the North Allegheny Tigers received the No. 9 seed and will visit No. 8 seed Peters Township on Monday night. In a WPIAL playoff preview at Newman Stadium on Thursday night, the North Allegheny defeated Peters Township Indians in a non-section game to close the regular season, 10-5.  Junior Isla Abrams was one of two Tigers with a hat trick in the game and notched her 100th career goal in the victory.

From the outset, North Allegheny controlled the contest and jumped out to a 3-0 lead by halftime and held an advantage for the remainder of the night. First half goals were scored by Abrams, sophomore Avery Anderson and senior Leigh Failla. North Allegheny rattled off seven more goals over the final 25 minutes to finish off a 10-5 win. Along with Abrams’ three goals, Failla also tallied a hat trick. Additional goals were scored by seniors Mila Prusak, Becka Oates and Charlotte Schreiber.

The Indians were paced by Grace Kail and Saint Francis commit, Lani Filoon, who scored two goals each.

Failla had another big game with and assist and four ground balls. Prusak, and IUP commit, won 10 of 15 draws and added two assists. Senior Mia Natoli had a strong game defensively with three ground balls and a caused turnover. Junior goalie Izzie Trunzo was strong in net with 10 saves.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 8-9 to conclude the regular season. Monday’s playoff game between the Tigers and Indians is slated for 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
