Lady Tigers Chomp Gators, 60-42
The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team bounced back from a brief two-game skid for a 60-42 win over the Gateway Gators on Friday night. The Lady Tigers forced 22 turnovers from the Gators and seized control of the game by outscoring their foe, 13-7, in the second quarter for a 29-19 halftime lead.
Junior Abby Gonzales had a terrific all-around performance, posting 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Senior Devvin LaBarge and junior Taylor Lake scored 15 points apiece to top the score sheet. Gateway’s top scorers were Morgan Hainsey and Jasmine Copeland who both posted 11 points for the Gators.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 5-2 overall while Gateway falls to 2-3 following the non-section affair. The Lady Tigers are off until next Friday night with a visit to Gannon University to take Villa Maria High School.
