Lady Tigers Dust Devils, 3-0

Extending their winning streak to 28 in a row, the North Allegheny Tigers dispatched the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils on Monday night, 3-0, in non-section play. The Lady Tigers won by set scores of 25-11, 25-17, and 25-14. The victory also extended NA’s head-to-head winning streak over Mt. Lebanon to five in a row, a streak that includes a 3-0 win in the 2014 WPIAL semifinals over the Blue Devils.

North Allegheny led 5-4 in set one before scoring 12 of the next 15 points to take a commanding 17-7 lead. Sophomore Paige Miller led the early charge with seven kills, including the final point in the opening set to close out a 25-11 win. Paige Miller totaled a team-best 10 kills and set the tone for the team, earning Wright Automotive Player of the Match honors.

In the second set, senior Avery Tuman racked up three kills and two blocks to spearhead a 25-17 victory. Tuman added three more kills in the third set to finish off a 25-14 triumph and a 3-0 sweep of the Blue Devils.

Sophomore Paige Morningstar was a constant source of offense, posting nine kills. Senior Allena Carmody chipped in with a team-leading 19 digs on defense and junior Abby Miller kept Mt. Lebanon off-balance with three aces.

North Allegheny improves to 4-0 overall with the non-section win. The Lady Tigers visit Butler on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
