North Allegheny continued their domination of the Pine-Richland Rams on Friday night defeating them 59-34 in front of the home fans for the first time in the 2021-2022 season. It was the Lady Tigers 10th consecutive victory in the head-to-head series.

Things started great for the Tigers as they scored the first ten points of the game jumping out to the early lead. Pine-Richland held tough and got the lead down to five but Lauren Mihm‘s 3-pointer at the buzzer gave North Allegheny momentum back and a 15-7 lead after a quarter. Things got much tighter in the second quarter with both teams trading buckets. The Rams once again went on a run to cut the lead to single digits but it was Jasmine Timmerson‘s turn to hit a mid-range jumper at the buzzer and the Lady Tigers took a 27-17 lead into the locker room.

Pine-Richland played a much more deliberate pace in the third quarter trying to work the ball inside to their post players. The Rams were hanging tough but the Tigers still had a double digit lead heading into the fourth. The final stanza saw North Allegheny get back to their style of basketball, creating turnovers and scoring quickly in transition. The Lady Tigers would outscore Pine-Richland, 25-10, in the final period and coasted to a 59-34 victory.

Lydia Betz was the Wright Automotive Player of the Game with 16 points. Betz also drew two charges and controlled the glass all night long. Timmerson added 13 points and Mihm added eight points.

North Allegheny improves to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in Section 1-6A. Pine-Richland falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the section. The Tigers will be back in action Monday when they head to Westmoreland County to take on Penn-Trafford at 7:30 p.m. in another Section 1-6A matchup.
