LaSalle College Outlasts Tigers, 54-48, At State College Tip Off
In the finals at the State College Tip-Off Tournament, the LaSalle College Explorers upended North Allegheny, 54-48, on Saturday afternoon. Senior Keegan Phillips paced the Tigers with a dozen points and was named the all-tournament team.
The Explorers navigated their way to a 36-21 halftime lead behind the play of Matthew Paulus and Shane Startk who totaled 15 and 11 points, respectively. North Allegheny attempted to stage a furiously rally in the second half and cut the score to 40-33 entering the fourth quarter. Phillips netted a team-high 12 points, followed by Dominick Dicello who scored 11. Despite NA’s best efforts, LaSalle College managed to hold off the Tigers for a 54-48 victory.
North Allegheny sits at 1-1 on the young season and will host Mt. Lebanon on Tuesday night. Start time is slated for 7:30 pm.
