In a game that saw Thomas Jefferson twice overcome North Allegheny leads, it was the Tigers who netted the final three third period goals to defeat the Jaguars 6-3.

North Allegheny scored the only goal of the first period, when William Kasunich found the net off an assist from Marc Joyson to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. It was the fourth goal in five games for the senior forward.

NA made it 2-0 early in the second period when Johnnie Castillo poked home his own rebound for his second goal of the season.

Thomas Jefferson bounced back, getting a shorthanded breakaway goal from Lucas Blose at 7:30 and a goal from Carter Merrell just over three minutes later, on a 2-on-1 to tie the game at 2-2.

Less than a minute later, Tommy Vidra answered with his second goal of the year after Ravi Desai forced a turnover, and the Tigers lead 3-2 heading to the third period.

The Jaguars tied the game at 12:13, when Cam Lorenzi scored their second short-handed goal of the night for the equalizer.

But the Tigers again had the quick answer while still on the power play, as ten seconds later, Joyson found a loose puck in front of the TJ net and pushed it under goalie Ronnie Porupsky to make the score 4-3. Noah Logan picked up the assist on the eventual game winning goal, and for Joyson, he now has points in all six contests this season for North Allegheny.

Vidra added his second goal of the night with an insurance marker at 13:56, when he won the face off in the right circle and slid the puck across the goal line to give the Tigers a 5-3 lead.

Ed Scherer added an empty net goal, his first of the season, with 16 seconds left for the game’s final tally.

Cam Junker made 23 saves for North Allegheny (4-2), picking up his fourth win of the season. The Tigers have now won three straight games. Thomas Jefferson fell to (4-4) with the loss.

With two goals on the night, senior Tommy Vidra picked up the Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors.

North Allegheny next hits the ice on Monday, December 2, when they play Pine-Richland at the Baierl Ice Complex in what will be a home game for the defending Penguin Cup and Pennsylvania Cup champion Rams at 9 pm.
