
Maggie Lapina & Ethan Maravich claim gold at WPIAL Diving Championships
North Allegheny was at the comfort of their own home for the WPIAL Diving Championships on Saturday. The Tigers looked comfortable on the boards as well as they took home WPIAL gold on the girls and boys sides as Maggie Lapina and Ethan Maravich won their respective titles.
On the girls side, Lapina posted a 477.80, 10 points better than Mya Lee of Mars in second place. This was the sixth straight season a Tiger won WPIAL gold in girls diving. Juliet Hood was the bronze medalist with a score of 430.35. Leah Maiolo finished the day in 12th place scoring 369.75. The Tigers picked up 41 team points heading into the WPIAL Swimming Championships next week.
For the boys, Maravich finished with a score of 532.30, defeating second place Jackson Hagler of Fox Chapel by 17 points. Maravich is the fourth NA boys diver to win WPIAL gold since 1980. Anthony Farrah finished in fifth place posting a 461.05. Colin Metzger scored a 345.15 to finish in 10th place and Nathan Rae finished in 13th place scoring 290.00. NA has 45 points as a team going into the WPIAL Swimming Championships.

The Tigers return to action on Friday when they compete in the WPIAL Swimming Championship at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Swimming should start around 9:45 a.m.
