North Allegheny rallied from an early three-run deficit and clipped the Gateway Gators on Wednesday afternoon for a 6-3 victory. The Gators struck for three runs in the top of the first inning, but a steady balance of run support helped the Tigers earn a come-from-behind non-section win.

Gateway pitching walked two NA batters in the second inning and both runners scored on a Bobby Brown RBI groundout and a Joe Fitzgerald RBI single to cut the score to 3-2, Gators. North Allegheny tied the game at 3-3 in the third inning on a fielder’s choice RBI groundball by Ben Marsico. The Tigers grabbed the lead for good in the fourth inning thanks to an RBI single by Garrett Hagen.  NA added one more run in the fourth and another in the fifth inning on an RBI groundout by Brown.

Despite allowing three runs in the first inning, starter Neil Woods (2-0) yielded no more and earned the win with five solid innings. Keegan Phillips and Kenny Dorn combined for two innings of scoreless relief to preserve the win.

North Allegheny sits at 4-2 overall with the win while Gateway stays winless at 0-3. The Tigers visit Hampton at 1:00 pm on Thursday afternoon.
