NA Boys sweep Day 1; Girls fall to Governor Mifflin
On Day One of the Tiger Classic, the North Allegheny boys water polo team jumped out to a 2-0 record defeating Reading and Governor Mifflin. The NA girls water polo team only played one game and fell to Governor Mifflin.
On the boys side, the Tigers defeated Reading 12-5 in their first match of the night. After a 3-3 tie at halftime, NA would outscore Reading 9-2 in the second half to pull away. Tabari Morgan led the way with four goals for the Tigers, Callan Bunger added three while Mason Shantz and Grant Regule each had two goals. Shantz had four assists for NA while Filip Malezanov had three assists. Bunger had six steals defensively. Mike Stefanko made seven saves for the Tigers.
In the second game, NA used a 7-0 fourth quarter to defeat Governor Mifflin 17-6. Bunger and Morgan both had four goals for North Allegheny. Caden Currykosky added three goals for the Tigers while Regule and Logan Purnell each had two. Morgan and Shantz both had four assists. Stefanko made 10 saves including five in a scoreless fourth quarter.
On the girls side, NA few to Governor Mifflin 19-4. Bella Spino had three goals for the Tigers. Lily Tang added the fourth. Mikaela Dassanaike had two assists for NA. Katherine Vales made 10 saves for North Allegheny.
The NA boys are now 2-0 on the season heading into the second day of the Tiger Classic. North Allegheny’s girls team falls to 0-1.
