North Allegheny took the short trip to Pine-Richland High School to take on the Rams in a Section 1-6A contest. It was a heated battle for 32 minutes but the Tigers ended up on the bad end of a 61-56 score on Friday night.

In the first quarter, neither team could get separation and the Tigers led 15-14 at the end of the quarter. The offenses got going a little bit in the second quarter with NA scoring 20 in the period and they led 35-31 at the half. Carter Melzer had an unbelievable first half as he had 20 of the 35 points in the half.

Momentum would shift in the third quarter as Pine-Richland outscored the Tigers 18-14 and we were all tied 49-49 going into the final frame. The fourth quarter was a defensive struggle and the Rams did a great job shortening the game with long possessions when they had the ball. North Allegheny could never get the offense going in the final frame and ultimately fell 61-56.

Melzer finished with 26 points. Jon Jubeck had 15 points, hitting three three-pointers.

North Allegheny falls to 4-3 overall, 1-2 in section play. Pine-Richland improves to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in Section 1-6A. The Tigers return to action on Saturday, December 28 when they host Bishop Canevin at 1:30 p.m. at UPMC Court. This will be apart of the Holiday Bash and will be broadcast on the NA Sports Network.
