NA drops low-scoring battle against Pine-Richland
North Allegheny hosted Pine-Richland in a Section 1-6A contest on Friday night at UPMC Court. It was a defensive struggle throughout but the Tigers fell in a low scoring battle, 34-25.
Things were back and forth in the first quarter as there were four lead changes. Neither team was able to get separation and the score was 9-9 after the opening period. Pine-Richland made a move in the second quarter to take the lead going into halftime at 18-15.
In the third quarter, with the game tied 23-23, the Rams went on an 11-0 run that spanned from the middle of the third until the final minute of the fourth quarter, to defeat North Allegheny, 34-25. There were five total points scored in the fourth quarter.
Rae Shanahan led North Allegheny with eight points. For providing a spark off the bench and matching up with the height of Pine-Richland, Shanahan was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game. Maddie Williams added six points.
North Allegheny falls to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in Section 1-6A. Pine-Richland improves to 3-7 overall and 2-0 in the section. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Woodland Hills to take on the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. in another Section 1-6A battle.
