
NA drops section contest to Butler in OT
North Allegheny hosted the Butler Golden Tornado on Friday night at UPMC Court in a Section 1-6A contest. It was a heated battle that needed overtime, but the Tigers ultimately dropped the contest 71-67.
Things were even in the first, as neither team could attain more than a four-point lead. The score was deadlocked 14-14 after a quarter of play. Shots started to fall for North Allegheny in the second period as they outscored Butler 18-12 in the frame to lead 32-26 at the half.
NA started the third quarter on fire expanding the lead to 37-28, but Butler fought back to make it a two-point game going in the fourth quarter. It was a hectic fourth quarter with a lot of fouls and free throws. Neither team could get any separation in the final frame and were tied 62 apiece heading to overtime.
In the OT period, Butler outscored North Allegheny 9-5 and the Tigers fell 71-67.
Jon Jubeck led the way for NA with 18 points. Justin Stalter added 13 points while Peter Bratich had 12 points. Carson Burns pitched in 11 points. Will Robertson returned from injury and had eight points. Since he gave the Tigers a spark off the bench in his first game back, Robertson was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.
North Allegheny falls to 5-9 overall and 1-7 in Section 1-6A. Butler improves to 10-5 overall and 3-5 in the section. The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Seneca Valley to take on the Raiders at 7:30 p.m.
