In the Section 1-AAAA opener, the North Allegheny boys’ soccer team was edged by the host Pine-Richland Rams in Gibsonia by a 2-1 decision on Thursday night.

The lone goal scored by the Tigers came courtesy of senior forward Evan Anderson in the first half, however Pine-Richland’s Colin Zvejnieks pounced on a loose ball rebound to keep the game deadlocked at the half, 1-1.

North Allegheny controlled possession and pressured the PR net for most of the game, leading in corner kicks, 6-2.

The Rams, however, were able to capitalize on few opportunities to claim the win. Zvejnieks scored his second marker of the night in the 59th minute for what proved to be the game-winning marker, handing PR a 2-1 win.

Following their first loss of the season, North Allegheny drops to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in Section 1-AAAA action. Pine-Richland improves to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the section. The Tigers look to rebound on Saturday with a home date with the Fox Chapel Foxes. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
