
NA falls short in 53-50 nail-biter against Seneca Valley
North Allegheny traveled to Seneca Valley on a frigid Tuesday night to take on the Raiders in a Section 1-6A contest. In a game where neither team really created any separation, the Tigers couldn’t get shots to fall down the stretch and fell to the Raiders 53-50.
After a defensive struggle in the first matchup, the teams brought the offense in the first quarter, and North Allegheny led 14-13 after the opening frame. Seneca Valley pushed to take the lead in the second quarter, and the Tigers trailed 28-25 at halftime.
NA clawed back into the game in the third quarter outscoring the Raiders 17-14 and the teams were all tied at 42 going into the fourth quarter. The game remained tight into the final frame. Trailing 53-50, North Allegheny had an opportunity to take a game-tying three-pointer, but the shot fell short.
Jon Jubeck led North Allegheny with 14 points, hitting four three-pointers. Carter Melzer added 13 points while Justin Stalter had 11 points.
North Allegheny falls to 5-10 overall and 1-8 in section play. Seneca Valley improves to 11-6 overall and 8-1 in the section. The Tigers return to action on Friday when they host Pine-Richland at UPMC Court at 8:00 p.m. This will be the second game of a girl/boy doubleheader and will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
