NA Girls’ Soccer Bounces Back, Hammers Hampton, 3-0
The North Allegheny girls’ soccer team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 3-0 triumph over the Hampton Talbots on Friday evening. The Tigers dictated the play from start to finish and allowed only three shots on goal in the game. As a result junior goalie Cara Schwartz posted the shutout, already NA’s second shutout of the season. North Allegheny outshot the Talbots, 13-3.
The Tigers opened the scoring in the game’s 35th minute when Brooke Anderson found Morgan Anderson who played a ball through to Bridget Pike for a goal and a 1-0 North Allegheny lead. In the second half, senior Gabby Smychynsky assisted on a goal by senior Amanda Miller in the 55th minute for a 2-0 Tigers advantage. Sophomore Anna Barton finished off the scoring in the 60th minute when she scored on her own rebound to bring the final score to 3-0, North Allegheny.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in Section 2-AAA. Hampton slips to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in section play. The Lady Tigers host Butler on Monday night in a game that can be heard live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
