NA Girls’ Soccer Towers Over Titans, 9-0
After dropping just its second game of the season over the weekend, North Allegheny rebounded on Monday night with a 9-0 drubbing of section foe Shaler. Junior Amanda Miller and senior Maria Gonchar score two goals apiece to lead the onslaught.
Senior Megan Barfuss opened the scoring just five minutes into the game to give the Tigers a prompt 1-0 lead. Gonchar notched both of her goals within the first 10 minutes of the contest as NA’s barrage of first half scoring continued, helping the Tigers to a commanding 7-0 lead by halftime. Miller, Gabby Smychynsky, Savana Yurick, and Natalie Lewis all tallied first half goals for the Lady Tigers. With the game well at hand, Miller and Morgan Anderson added second half markers to round out the scoring in a convincing win.
With the victory, North Allegheny vaults to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in Section 2-AAA. Shaler falls to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in section play. The Lady Tigers look to keep up their winning ways on Wednesday night with a home game against the North Hills Indians. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
