On a frigid Sunday morning at the RMU Island Sports Center, the North Allegheny Tigers earned a 9-5 Senior Day win over the Shaler Area Titans.
After a slow start to the first period where the Titans notched the first two goals, it was the Tigers who finished the period strong with goals from junior Matthew Noffsinger assisted by senior Steven Cameron, a follow up rebound goal by senior Ethan Zadnik, and an unassisted goal by senior Dan O’Malley as time expired giving the Tigers a 3-2 edge.
In the second period with the defense picking up, the Titans forged a power play goal but the Tigers responded with a goal from S. Cameron assisted by Zadnik. Not to be out done, it was the Titans with the final marker of the frame ending the period with a 4-4 tie.
The third period saw the Tiger offense come alive, outscoring the Titans 5-1, starting with a power play goal by Noffsinger assisted by S. Cameron followed by an unassisted goal by Noffsinger. O’Malley followed suit with an unassisted marker and Zadnik closed out the frame with the final two goals, one assisted by S. Cameron. The Titans managed one goal for the period to end the Senior Day game with a final score of 9-5.
