
NA Lacrosse Levels Little Lions, 12-1
Facing a team that has dealt the Tigers a pair of narrow defeats over the past two years, including a 7-6 loss in double overtime in the PIAA playoffs in 2015, North Allegheny completely dominated the State College Little Lions on Saturday afternoon, 12-1. The Tigers defense held the Lions without a shot in the first quarter and limited State College to only one shot for the entire first half.
Senior Greg Ferringer helped control the pace of play with a team-high eight ground balls and six forced errors. Senior faceoff man Alec Vissotski was another key contributor in the one-sided time of possession, gobbling up seven ground balls and winning 11 of 15 draws. Vissotski added two assists on offense.
On the scoring front, North Allegheny raced to an 8-0 lead in the first half and was paced freshman phenom Isaiah Davis who netted four goals and assisted on another. Sophomore Ben Maenza notched a hat trick, while Wes Powell and Gavin Hagen tallied two goals apiece. Powell added an assists and senior Dillon Bugni chipped in with a goal.
North Allegheny improves to 5-1 overall with the non-section win. The Tigers will return to section play with a visit to Butler to take on the Golden Tornado on Tuesday night.
