NA Lands Section Win Over Moon, 16-8
The North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team returned home to Newman Stadium on Wednesday night and claimed an impressive 16-8 win over the Moon Tigers in Section 2-AAA action.
The game was tied 3-3 with 8:51 remaining in the first half before North Allegheny scored seven unanswered goals to take a 10-3 lead by the early stages of the second half.
Moon momentarily stopped the bleeding courtesy of an Alyssa Lerch goal, one of three for Lerch on the night, to cut the score to 10-4. However, North Allegheny responded with three more goals for a 13-4 lead with 17:28 to play, effectively putting the game out of reach.
The North Allegheny scoring assault was led by senior Paige Jones, who netted a game-high five goals and added two assists. The sophomore duo of Katie Oates and Skye DePrado terrorized Moon with four and three goals, respectively. Senior Valerie Davis tallied two goals and fellow senior Brooke Ferringer added another. DePrado tallied two assists, while Oates and sophomore Marissa Hess had one assist each.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Section 2-AAA. Moon falls to 2-2 in the section. The Tigers will host Upper St. Clair in a non-section contest on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
