The NA girls’ volleyball team took on Freeport, defending AA WPIAL champs, in a home-opening match on Friday night.  There was great energy in the gym as the first two games finished with close scores of 25-23 and 27-25 with NA edging out the Yellow Jackets.  In the third game, the Tigers started strong and never slowed down as they closed out the match with a 25-11 decisive win.

Eighteen different players contributed to the victory for NA.  Sophomore setter Abby Miller led the team in assists and service aces.  Newcomer to the team, freshman OH Paige Miller led the team in kills with seniors Kayla Dinkins and Mika Logan also contributing big numbers on hitting and blocking. Other hitters adding to the offense were Avery Tuman, Kristen Chomos, Anna Sprys, and Allison Fischer.  The Carmody sisters, senior Erin and junior Allena, carried the team with passing and defense.  Maddy Mueller, Julia Patzak, Grace Flanders and Taylor Helkowski also gave the team a lift in the backrow.

The team has a challenging two weeks ahead taking on Penn Trafford and Upper St Clair on the road this week then hosting Shaler next Tuesday.  They face Pine Richland  away and Seneca Valley at home, and ask for your support as they face strong section rivals!

JV Update: NA won 2-0 (25-11, 26-24).
