NA opens season with 4-0 win over South Fayette
North Allegheny traveled to the Mt. Lebanon Ice Center to take on the defending 2A Penguins Cup Champions. South Fayette, now in Class 3A, were welcomed to the new classification with the Tigers dominating the contest winning 4-0 in the opener.
After a quiet first period, NA exploded for three goals in the second period. Kyle Imm scored the first goal of the season on assists from Noah Logan and Justin Hai and the Tigers led 1-0 seven and a half minutes into the second period. Less than a minute later, Travis Lamark would increase the NA lead to 2-0 scoring off an assist from Hai. With about 90 seconds remaining in the period, Marc Joyson found the back of the net on an assist from Brock Murphy and North Allegheny led 3-0 at the second intermission.
Things were pretty even in the third period with no one being able to score until Topher Moran scored the empty netter to give NA the 4-0 lead and put the game away. Cam Junker made 21 saves to collect the shutout in net.
North Allegheny starts the year off 1-0-0 with three points. South Fayette falls to 0-1-0 with no points. The Tigers return to action on Thursday for their home opener when they host Mt. Lebanon at 9:00 p.m. This game will be broadcast on the NA Sports Network.
