NA Plays To 1-1 Tie At Butler in WPIAL Title Game Rematch
In a rematch of last year’s WPIAL Class AAAA championship game, the North Allegheny girls’ soccer team played to a 1-1 overtime draw with the Butler Golden Tornado on Thursday evening.
The two-time reigning champions drew first blood early in the first half when junior Lucia Wells scored to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. The Wells goal, her 10th of the season, came 3:21 into the game and was assisted by sophomore Abigail Stager.
The host Tornado evened the score in the second half on a goal by Chloe Weiland. The contest remained deadlocked 1-1 through overtime, ending in a tie.
Top-ranked North Allegheny sits at 6-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in Section 1-AAAA. Fifth-ranked Butler moves to 6-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in section play. The Tigers will host North Hills on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. at Newman Stadium.
