NA Season Ends With Loss To Norwin in WPIAL Quarterfinals
The North Allegheny Tigers lost to Section 2 champs, the Norwin Knights, in the quarterfinal round of the 6A WPIAL playoffs. Norwin’s offense struck early and often, scoring six runs on 12 hits.
The Knights’ senior pitcher Sydney Lokay held North Allegheny scoreless on three hits, striking out nine. North Allegheny Senior Lauren Haywood went 2 for 3, while sophomore Meghan McDonough was 1 for 3. The Tigers left 6 runners on base.
Haywood took the loss for the Tigers on the mound. She threw six complete innings and held Norwin’s offensive powerhouse to 12 hits with two strikeouts.
The Tigers complete their 2021 season with a final record of 10-11 while finishing 5-5 in section play. It was the 21st consecutive season North Allegheny has qualified for the WPIAL playoffs.
