NA Slow-Pitch Swept By Mt. Pleasant

The Tigers Slow-Pitch Softball Team dropped a pair of games at Frick Park on Sunday, October6 to Mt. Pleasant.  The Lady Tigers started out strong in game one of the doubleheader, scoring six runs on 10 hits in the first two innings.  The bats went silent however as NA collected just five hits over the last five innings.  Ashley Tresky led the Tigers with three hits, a triple and two singles, scored three runs and two RBIs.  Alexis Kruth had a single, double, and sacrifice fly to plate three runs. In the fifth inning with NA leading 8-6, Mt. Pleasant had runners on first and second with no outs and one run already in when Jess Blendinger caught a low line drive in right-center field and threw to Marlee Tyler at second base to double up a runner.  Then, Emily Barbus finished the inning with a great running catch in right field. Mt. Pleasant still managed to rally over the last three innings and win game one, 9-8.

In game two, the Tigers led 9-8 after four innings, but the Mt. Pleasant exploded in the sixth as they scored 10 runs to make it an uphill battle for NA.  Lauren Randolph and Carly Kovalchik led the Tigers with four hits apiece, while Katelyn Cerutti had three.  Randolph posted two singles, two doubles and six RBI’s. Kovalchik had three singles, one double and one RBI.  Cerutti finished with three singles and two RBI’s.  Alexis Kruth was 2 for 3 with a walk, scoring three runs and plating two more.  Emily Barbus continued to sparkle in right field, turning another double-play with Marlee Tyler and throwing a batter out at first-base on a line drive to right field.  The final score in game two was 22-13, Mt. Pleasant.

North Allegheny is now 5-7 on the season and will finish the regular season this Sunday, October 13th when they travel to Fort Cherry High School.
