NA Swimmers Sail By Shaler For Section Victories
Senior Andrew Doerfler posted a personal best score of 291.55 and won the one-meter diving competition as the North Allegheny swimming and diving teams swept Shaler on December 18 at North Allegheny High School. The North Allegheny boys defeated Shaler 98-72, and the NA girls won 100-73.
Among the girls, junior Taylor McClellan, sophomores Eliza Ross and Madeline Bordo, and freshman Jordan Ennis teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in 2:00.04. In individual events, first-place finishers included sophomore Caitlin Edwards (200-yard freestyle) junior Gianna Caputo (200-yard individual medley), sophomore Lauren McGrath (500-yard freestyle), senior Jacquelyn Du (50-yard freestyle), senior Maggie Root (100-yard butterfly) and freshman Ann Juneau (100-yard freestyle). Root also teamed with sophomores Anna Verardi and Daniella Torres and senior Charlie Brickner to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:41.15.
For the boys, first-place finishers included sophomore Eben Krigger (200-yard individual medley), freshman Mason Gonzalez (50-yard freestyle), senior Greg Arnold (100-yard butterfly), senior Casey Melzer (100-yard freestyle) and junior Colin MacDonald (500-yard freestyle). MacDonald, Melzer, Arnold and Gonzalez also teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:38.08. For additional results from the meet between NA and Shaler, click here.
