NA Swimming & Diving competes against Moon

Still on the road but closer to home, our swimmers and divers traveled to Moon High School, Tigers vs Tigers.  The roars were through the roof as Danny Lesinski broke not 1 but 2 pool records in the 200 Free and 100 Back!

With granddaughter Lina cheering her on, Coach Patti McClure traveled with an all rookie lineup to the dark side of the Moon and emerged triumphant. The boys went 1, 2, 3 scoring 13 team points. Sophomore Anthony Farrah came in first with 259.70 points followed by Sophomore Nathan Rak (180.80 pts) and Junior Colin Metzger (179.90 pts). For the girls team, Freshman Leah Maiolo won the event with 177.25 points. Sophomore Shreeya Kulkarni (145.30 pts) and Freshman Emily Dimond (141.90 pts) contributed for a total 9 team points.

In the 200 Medley Relay, the NA Girls took 1st Pl with the winning team of Angelina Li, Emma Dietz, Clari Bacu, and Madden Woycheck clocking in at 1:54.69. Not to be outdone, the NA Boys also took 1st PL in the medley relay with the top group of Brendan Yatchenko, Emmanuel Chu, Mason Shantz, and Dylan Seiford posting a 1:41.41.

The record 200 Freestyle saw the NA girls take 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Pl. NA’s best girl, Dani Hinkson came in at 2:01.34. But it was the NA boys who stole the show with a 1st, 3rd, and 4th PL. The star of the event, Danny Lesinski, took first with a Pool Record of 1:43.12!

For the 200 IM, the NA girls wrapped up 1st, 3rd, and 4th Pl. NA Girls best swimmer Evey Masztak touched at 2:18.52, a PB and first WPIAL in the event. The NA boys swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pl. The Tigers’ top finisher was Zachary Totin, who swam a 2:05.20.

Sprinting the 50 Freestyle, NA girls swept 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl. The Tigers’ fastest girl, Eva Zilinski finished with a time of 26.12. The NA boys took 1st, 3rd and 5th Pl. NA’s best swimmer was Mason Shantz with a time of 22.83.

On the 100 Butterfly, the NA girls placed 1st, 3rd, and 4th. Our winning flyer was Emma Dietz with a time of 1:04.86. The NA boys with another sweep 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Hitting the wall first was Talon Xing with a WPIAL time of 56.02.

In the 100 Freestyle, the NA girls took 1st, 3rd, and 4th Pl. NA Girls best finisher was Angelina Li with a time of 56.15. The NA boys finished 2nd, 4th, and 5th. The Tiger boys fastest freestyler was Mason Shantz with a PB 50.02 seconds!

The 500 Freestyle saw the NA girls sweep 1st, 2nd, and 3rd again. Winning the event was Kate Dudro with a WPIAL time of 5:30.99 for the freshman.  The NA boys also swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pl. The NA boys’ best long hauler was Dylan Seiford, scoring a PB and WPIAL 5:02.11.

Teamwork in the 200 Free Relay saw both the NA Girls and Boys finish 1st. The girls group of Dani Hinkson, Madden Woycheck, Eva Zilinski, and Leah Laughlin finished at 1:44.28. The NA boys were Zachary Totin, Mason Shantz, Talon Xing, and Dylan Seiford swimming a 1:30.55.

After being away for the 2nd week and missing home the NA Tigers wrapped it up putting the meet into exhibition. In the 100 Backstroke, the Tiger Girls best finisher was Claire Bacu with the time of 1:02.18. The 100 Breaststroke saw Freshman Eva Zilinski winning her 2nd event with a PB 1:09.19, and the top 400 Free Relay of Madden Woycheck, Clarie Bacu, Dani Hinkson, and Emma Dietz finished with a time of 3:49.71.

For the NA Boys, the 100 Backstroke was an amazing race with Danny Lesinski breaking another Pool Record at 51.33. Zachary Totin swimming a 1:05.46 in the 100 Breaststroke and the team of Talon Xing, Dylan Seiford, Grant Regule, and Gus Miller posting a 3:25.25 to be the Boys best finishers.
