NA Tennis Punishes Peters Township In WPIAL Semifinals

Posted on:

The North Allegheny Lady Tigers are just one more win away from defending their WPIAL crown. With a 5-0 win over the Peters Township Indians on Wednesday afternoon, the Lady Tigers have advanced to the WPIAL Class AAA Championship tomorrow afternoon. NA will face Shady Side Academy who defeated Mt. Lebanon 3-2 in the other semifinal.

North Allegheny topped the Indians, 5-0, on September 4 and came away with a similar result in today’s semifinal. Anni Li collected a 6-0, 6-2, win over Megan Nixon at #1 singles.  Sophomore Tina Li swept past Jenn Holcombe, 6-0, 6-0, and Eugenia Lee delivered a 6-1, 6-1, triumph over Alex Garcia at #3 singles.

The Indians put up more of a fight in doubles play, but in the end the tandems of Tristyn Maalouf and Catherine Liu, and Sydney Boyd and Catherine Zhang were too much for Peters Township to handle.

Now 19-0 overall, the Tigers will prepare for the WPIAL title match at 3:00 pm on Thursday at Bethel Park High School.
