The five-time defending 3A WPIAL Champion Pine-Richland Rams paid a visit to Wexford to face the Tigers at Newman Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Rams, who are undefeated and have not allowed a goal yet this season, stayed true to that form, taking advantage of a penalty corner in each of the opening two quarters to defeat North Allegheny 2-0.

The Rams struck 1:26 into the game, as Kendyll Jerry fed the insert to Georgia Rottinghaus who found the net for the 1-0 lead.

Alyssa Baculik picked up a rebound on a penalty corner at 2:25 of the second quarter and slid the ball into the net to give Pine-Richland a 2-0 lead.

But the Tigers, who were out cornered on the night 9-2, stiffened and did not allow another goal to Pine-Richland.

Kayla Joyce was spectacular at times, denying the Rams on several goal mouth scrambles. She also had help with a couple of defensive saves from Emi Barreiro, Eliana Jones, Alexa Volk, and others, as the Tigers held firm despite Pine-Richland having the territorial and possession advantage.

The Rams, (6-0, 3-0), have now scored 33 goals in 2024 and have yet to concede one against.

For her play on the night, which included being around and, on the ball, not only defensively, but in the midfield, the junior Emi Barreiro was awarded the Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors.

North Allegheny falls to (2-4, 1-2) with the loss. The Tigers host Norwin in a section matchup on Thursday night starting at 7PM. That game will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
