North Allegheny cross country teams traveled to Butler High School to face off against the Golden Tornado and the Shaler Area Titans for the final section match of the 2024 season. NA boys and girls both came away victorious, earning them the section title and putting a nice cap on an undefeated dual meet season.
The girls raced first on the hilly and muddy course on the Butler campus. They defeated Butler 19-41 and Shaler 15-50. NA took the top three spots in the race with senior Elizabeth Pizon leading the way. Seniors Camille Swirsding and Kendall Lucas were second and third with great races. After a couple Butler runners crossed the line, it was another trio of Tigers. Junior Tess Pagnotto was sixth, sophomore Gabriela Pizon finished in seventh, and freshman Lydia Stuart ended up in eighth. Junior Esa Tate rounded out the top seven Lady Tigers with a strong 10th place overall finish.
The boys defeated Butler 23-34 and Shaler 15-50. The Tigers had a great 1-2 punch with junior Andrew Peigh and senior Jack Bertram taking the top two spots. NA and Butler traded pairs for the next six spots. Senior Tyler Davis was strong in the second half to get fifth place. Senior Jackson Beemer out kicked a Tornado to take sixth. Next up for the Tigers were seniors Grey Lowman and Sebastian Klimchak in ninth and 10th. Junior Jack Curren raced well to round out the top seven for the Tigers.
The NA girls and boys both improve to 8-0 overall and finish with a perfect 7-0 record in section play. The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday, October 17 when they head to White Oak Course in White Oak, PA to compete in the Tri-State Invitational. This will be the same course the WPIAL Championships will be ran on.
